What is the best age to start training my dog?

How do you accept payment?

Payment is accepted by cheque, bank transfer, PayPal or cash. Pay on completion of the consultation.

What is the best breed to get for a family pet?

There are huge variations within any breed. Generally, high energy working breeds like Border Collies and Springer Spaniels need active owners who can give mental stimulation plus 2 hours a day walking.

At what age should I consider taking my pup to training classes?

As soon as it can go out after completing its course of inoculations. There is no upper age limit in place.

Can you stop my cat from scratching the furniture when we leave the house?

Provide a few scratching posts.

Do dog whistles work and are they effective?

They work effectively if you teach your dog to respond.

I am considering a rescue dog; do you have any advice to share with me?

Should I leave the TV or radio on when I leave the house to get shopping?

Certainly, does no harm. Classic FM is good.

What is The Royal Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Award?

The Scheme is aimed at all dogs whether Royal Kennel Club registered or not, there is no age limit. For the Bronze Test, dogs are not required to have completed the Puppy Foundation Assessment programme. Handlers must show that they have means of cleaning up after their dog and that it has proper identification. It is a legal requirement to inscribe the name and the address of the owner on the collar or on a plate or disc attached to it.

Why do dogs want to bite the postman?

Because s/he comes to the door, ‘interferes’ with the property and is never invited in. You can change this behaviour by associating the Post person with a positive experience for the dog.
